Clappbox Auctions

Online auctions, on your terms

Every bid logged to the second, lots that close on their own, and receipts with no manual data entry. Running today at a real auction house.

Before and after

Your auction shouldn’t depend on who writes fastest

Today

  • Bids come in by text, email and phone
  • Someone writes them down while doing something else
  • The auction only runs while someone is watching
  • Invoicing each sale takes days

With Clappbox Auctions

  • Every bid is recorded with its time and bidder
  • The system settles the order, no refereeing needed
  • The auction runs on its own until closing time
  • The receipt goes out the moment the lot is won

How it works

From cataloging lots to getting paid, with no one watching the screen

Set up the auction

Dates, rules and premiums, just once. Every lot inherits them.

Bidders bid

They leave their maximum and the system bids for them, to the second.

It closes on its own

If someone bids at the last minute, the lot is extended automatically.

Won and paid

An invoice to the winning bidder and a settlement to the consignor.

The platform

All of this is already built and running

Automatic bidding

Bidders leave their maximum and the system bids for them up to that amount.

Extended bidding

If someone bids at the last minute, the lot extends on its own.

Hidden reserve

If a lot doesn’t reach your minimum, it isn’t sold.

Auctions as events

Set dates and rules once; the lots inherit them.

Bidder dashboard

Each bidder sees where they’re winning, where they’re not, what’s next, and what they’ve won.

Checkout and payment

Invoice and receipt, with nothing to enter by hand.

Premiums and commissions

Buyer’s premium and seller’s commission, calculated on every lot.

Lot search

By lot number, catalog number or description.

With Caia

Set up the auction by chatting

Caia creates the auction, adds the lots and sends you the results. You review and confirm.

Before the auction

“Set up Thursday’s auction with the classic U.S. stamp lots, opening at 80% of estimate.”

After the auction

“How did yesterday’s auction close? Send me the settlement by consignor.”

Similar, but not quite the same?

It almost always is

Every auction house has its own way of working: the consignor’s commission, the live sale that’s also streamed, sealed bids, deposits, the printed catalog. The foundation is already built; we build what makes it yours on top.

FAQ

What people ask before getting started

Can I keep running live auctions in the room?

Yes. The platform adds the online channel. If you also hold live sales, we adapt the workflow to the way you work.

Do bidders have to register?

Yes. With their account they bid, watch lots, see where they’re winning, and pay for what they’ve won.

What currency do bidders use?

Whichever one you set for your house. Bids are always recorded in that currency, with no confusing conversions.

How much does it cost?

It depends on how many auctions you run and how much customization you need. We’ll send you a fixed-price proposal after a call.

Want to see it in action?

We’ll walk you through a real auction, start to finish, on a half-hour video call.
